Ocoee is a city in Florida, and a place where we spent many years as a family growing up. It was a home away from home for many seasons throughout our time there, and we pay tribute to that place as our name as it is where everything started, and where our best ideas came from. The Ocoee House we made home, lives through in our small business.

While we use a blend of high-quality, industry-standard fragrance oils to achieve our atmospheric scents, our focus remains on the purity of the wax base. This ensures your home remains free from the heavy pollutants and toxins typically associated with paraffin-based candles. 

We are particularly mindful of sensitive pets, such as parrots and other birds, which have highly delicate olfactory systems; the clean-burning nature of our organic wax provides a safer, more refined atmosphere for every member of your home. 

We value longevity and quality in everything we produce. Our burn times are as follows:

Single Wick Candles: Approximately 45 hours of fragrance.

Double Wick Candles: Approximately 65 hours of fragrance.

To get the most from your candle, we recommend allowing the wax to melt to the edge of the glass on the first burn to prevent tunnelling.

• Trim the wick before every use: Before lighting your candle, always trim the wick to between 4mm and 6mm. This simple habit ensures a steady, controlled flame and prevents soot from being released into the air. By trimming the wick, you maintain cleaner air in your home, allowing our high quality scents to fill the room without interference
• The initial burn is essential: To avoid tunnelling, ensure your first burn lasts for at least 1 hour. This allows the wax to reach a full melt pool to the edge of the glass, ensuring that you get the most out of your candle and that the wax burns evenly throughout its life.
• Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time: We recommend enjoying your candle for a maximum of 4 hours in a single session. This helps to preserve the integrity of the fragrance and prevents the jar from over-heating, ensuring the experience remains safe.
• Know when to say goodbye: For safety reasons, please discontinue use once there is 1cm of wax remaining at the bottom of the jar. This prevents the base of the glass from becoming too hot.
• Final tips: To prevent fire and serious injury, burn candles on a heat resistant surface away from draughts, sources of heat and flammables. Burn your candle out of reach from children and pets. Use caution when handling glass containers. Do not move whilst lit, and never leave a burning candle unattended.

We encourage all clients to recycle every part of the candle at the end of its life to help protect the natural Scottish landscape that inspires our brand.
